summer social skills
Comprehensive Therapy Children's Center is excited to offer a summer social skills therapy group, designed especially for children ages 5-10, who need to develop their social skills.
Held in a fun, interactive environment, each four-week session will target pragmatic language skills, as well as incorporate sensory and/or fine and gross motor activities. Children will learn how to make new friends and build lasting relationships. Our goal is for children to have fun while learning functional social skills that can be used in everyday social settings.
The 4-week sessions are designed to:
Enhance conversational skills
Improve social interactions
Enrich language comprehension
Develop group play skills
Introduce manners and etiquette
Encourage group interaction
Establish coping skills for handling emotions
Teach self-regulation techniques
Encourage appropriate turn-taking skills
Additional Information
Upon registration, parents will complete a questionnaire to assess each child's needs and ensure proper placement in a therapy group. The small groups will be led by a Speech/Language and Occupational Therapist.
Schedule
Each four-week session will meet for one hour on Fridays. Typically, the weekly sessions will include
10-20 minutes of sensory/gross motor activity,
30-40 minutes of language development and a 10-minute sensory/gross motor cool down activity.
